Welcome to the Ictext Inc. Website

Are you currently relying on readers or audiotapes/CDs to read aloud textbooks and academic material to meet Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) requirements for your students? Do you rely on audio taped books or slow scanning to meet the needs of text-challenged students?  Are you relying on Teachers' Aides or student readers to meet ADA requirements when a student could be empowered with their own e-text version of class materials? Allow Ictext, inc. to accomplish text conversion with its high speed scanning service and take care of those worries for you!

Ictext quickly provides equal access to textbooks and course materials and reduces expenses by converting printed matter to e-text. We offer our texts in searchable PDF, Microsoft  Word (.doc OR .docx), or HTML.

Ictext’s goal is to provide affordable alternative options to disability offices for students with reading limitations or vision impairments.  Students know that books on tape or CD are cumbersome, and not always available for their courses.  I find that students prefer the convenience of e-text with text-to speech software such as Zoomtext or JAWS. Ictext converts printed materials quickly to an accessible format, and provides the e-text promptly to the student so they do not lose valuable class time.

Ictext, inc. strives to provide quick textbook options for students when textbooks and class packets or course packs are not available from Recording for the Blind and Dyslexic (RFB&D).

Ictext works directly with a Disability Office to fill the gap between the inaccessible textbook and the student's needs and providing efficient compliance with ADA regulations for print-impaired students.

Copyright law requires confirming that the college, or the student owns the book, and that the user of the converted text will not share, sell, or pass along his/her electronic or digital version of the textbook with others.  The purpose of Ictext is to convert academic textbooks and materials for higher education institutions in alternative formats for ADA compliance within the academic and copyright law.  We do not compete with RFB&D, but instead we compliment their program by quickly and economically filling the gap of unavailable academic books.
